Per included factory research, this serial number was originally applied April 11, 1894, the rifle shipped out April 17 of that year with an octagon barrel, .45-90 chambering, plain trigger, and checkered pistol grip stocks. This attractive rifle remains in this configuration as shipped. The blued 26" barrel fitted with a dovetail German silver blade front sight and semi buckhorn rear. An additional folding aperture sight is mounted to the tang. Attractive case hardened frame. Forend is gloss finished checkered walnut. Matching checkered, attractively figured pistol grip stock with ebony grip inlay and case hardened crescent rifle butt plate. Stock channel is numbered "315", the matching "315 XX" assembly number and wood grade present on the lower tang. CONDITION: Very fine, near excellent for its age. Barrel and magazine tube retain the vast majority of their factory blue, some silvering along the high edges and thinning present, along with scattered marks. Generous vibrant and highly attractive original case colors with some muting on the belly and bridge, as well as some minor silvery patina spots. Bolt and loading gate likewise retain the vast majority of their original finish. Stocks retain approximately 90% original varnish with some scattered marks and impressions. Checkering remains sharp. Very fine bright bore with sharp, well defined rifling throughout. Crisp mechanics. A wonderfully attractive deluxe Winchester in desirable .45-90 chambering. A fine addition to any collection.
