These unusual weapons were designed by Joseph-Celestin Dumouthier in Paris, France during the mid-19th century. Dumonthier worked from 1840 until about 1900. The double-edged 9 - 1/2" blade has a deep center fuller on each side and barrels of 3 - 3/4" on each side. The upper section of the quillions serve as percussion hammers. When the right hammer is pulled back, the folding trigger extends. Pulling the trigger first drops the right hammer, then it can be pulled a second time to drop the left hammer. The horn grips are spiral carved. Complete with its original fitted black leather scabbard with steel mounts. CONDITION: Blade and barrels are bright with some scattered light grey spotting. Actions are tight and function properly. Grips show some minor hairline cracks. Scabbard mounts have been cleaned and show some light pitting. Leather very good with some minor scuffing and crazing towards tip. A very scarce variant.
