Manufactured circa 1880s. The octagon to round barrel is marked "REBORED & R(?)D BY J. STEVENS A&T. CO. CHICOPEE FALLS." has been rechambered to .32-40. Modern spirt level windgauge front sight and long range Vernier aperture rear sight, the barrel also drilled and tapped for scope blocks. The period nickel finished action is marked on the left with Maynard patent information and "1873" designation. The right bears Massachusetts Arms Co. information and "1882" model designation. Schnabel tipped checkered walnut forend. Figured walnut stock with capped, checkered pistol grip and checkered hard rubber butt plate. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains the vast majority of its Stevens applied blue with some mild muzzle wear and other marks. Nickel shows clouding and some mild flaking but is otherwise fine. Stocks are fine with scattered light impressions. Especially fine and bright bore. Fine mechanics.
