Manufactured by William Wurfflein of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania circa 1880s or 1890s. Blued octagon barrel and marked at the breech with 2-line address between a pair of engraved double line bands. Globe front sight and mid-range Vernier aperture rear sight, the rear dovetail on the barrel is filled in with a blank. Receiver is attractively engraved with foliate scroll and vine motifs with double line borders. Checkered walnut splinter forend. Stock is highly figured walnut with a checkered round knob pistol grip and checkered horn butt plate. CONDITION: Very good overall. Factory finishes have faded to a brown patina, some traces of blue visible in protected areas. Stocks have some scattered nicks but are otherwise fine. Bore is strong, lightly abraded bore with some darkness in the grooves. Fine mechanics.
