Approximately 4,000 new model carbines were manufactured by the Evens Repeating Rifle Co. of Mechanic Falls, Maine, between 1877 and 1879. Standard configuration with round barrel, high blade front sight, ladder rear, new model action, walnut carbine forend retained by a single band with sling swivel, and characteristic 2-piece walnut butt stock with iron butt plate. Complete with research. CONDITION: Fair. Metal components display an overall brown-gray patina with cleaned oxidation spots throughout. Top of the stock has period repaired split near the comb, the bottom wood has an additional live split running from the retaining screw to the action. Scattered minor marks also present throughout. Abraded bore with defined rifling. Mechanically fine.
