Ricardo Velarde's first passion was falconry, and when custom made knives caught his interest in the 1990s, he used the small machine shop that he used to craft falconry equipment as a segway into his new hobby as a blade smith. This knife is an example of Velarde's craftmanship in the form of a drop point hunter that features a 4" blade marked "R. Velarde" on the obverse and "Park City, UT. USA" on reverse. The blade remains bright with light blemishes. Small guard with wide ferrule that accommodates a knurled thumb rest. 2 large stainless pins secure each of the Himalayan sheep horn grip scales to the hilt. Scales remain intact and are nicely bordered with red spacers. Nice finger grooves improve the grip. Pommel features a wide lanyard loop that accommodates leather cord. Hilt is in matching condition to the blade. Complete with its light brown leather scabbard with intact belt loop and tight stitching. Marked "VELARDE" on reverse. Light wear to scabbard. CONDITION: Very good.
