This musket has been stocked in American cherry using mostly British components. The barrel is British with all marks no longer visible. The lock is marked "DUBLIN / CASTLE" at the tail and is engraved with a large crown over "GR" in the center and stamped with a British crown and broad arrow under the pan, denoting government ownership. All of the brass furniture is from a Pattern 1742 musket, except for the wrist escutcheon. Complete with a modern wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel shows heavy pitting. Lock markings good, some pitting and dark patina. Cock is a replacement, as well as the rear lock bolt. Brass retains a fairly dark patina. Trigger guard shows a repair to front finial and a couple repairs to tang. Stock shows scattered cracks and marks from use, most of the wood around the lock has been replaced. A good example of an American stocked musket using early French and Indian War period parts.
