Circa 1911 per "British Gunmakers: Volume One - London" by Brown. Dovetail lump barrels with diminutive bead front sight on a matted flat solid rib, engraved "CHARLES BOSWELL, MAKER" and "126 STRAND, LONDON", fit with a hidden third fastener. Engraved at the breeches with stiff leaves. Barrel flats with numerous British proofs for a 2 - 3/4" choked 12 gauge with a nominal 18.6 IBD done in 2001 at 850 BAR. Other proofs include "C. BOSWELL", while tubes have serial number and proof. Fit with extractor and lightly relieved for sideclips. Splinter walnut forearm with Anson plunger release and checkered in a point pattern, with exterior iron engraved with florals and acanthus scroll. Interior iron case colored and with matching serial number. Action flats with view and proof marks, "C. BOSWELL", and serial number. Sidelocks built with cocking indicators, and engraved in English style rose and scroll, with 4 bouqets on either plate and "CHARLES BOSWELL" at bar, supported by acanthus scroll. Underside with six bouquets, also supported by acanthus scroll. Double triggers protected by a flat-bottom trigger guard with acanthus scroll and geometric strapwork, serial number at rear of tang. Automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold ahead of tang. Restocked in a richly colored, almost whirlpool-figured, piece of wood with teardrops behind sidepanels, prince of wales grip checkered in a point-and-wave pattern with partially mullered borders about wrist, and finished by a leather wrapped recoil pad with English style covered screws. In an unlabelled leather wrapped case with brass tabs, lined in green. PROVENANCE: Ex. Bill Wise. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated. Barrels with the vast majority of a good quality reblack, softening edges somewhat, with some mild pluming and thinning at sharp edges. Action is very good as cleaned bright, with crisp engraving and some oil stating and traces of case colors. Stocks excellent with some minor handling marks, finish added to forearm and butt, checkering at wrist competently cut. Mechanically fine, bores with some mild striated frosting ahead of forcing cones and at muzzles. Case good, exists to protect gun, with some age related distress at corners, but whole.
