Manufactured in 1858. The case has protected this gun for 166 years to keep it in this good of condition. Two line address on the top flat of the barrel, "ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK CITY". Two line patent address on the left side of the frame, "COLT'S / PATENT". Matching full serial numbers observed on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and the side of the cylinder. The last five digits of the serial number observed on the bottom of the wedge. The last four digits of the serial number are observed on the arbor and the loading lever. The cylinder has a Stagecoach holdup scene. It has a blue barrel and cylinder, and a hardened case color frame and loading lever. Silver plated trigger guard and backstrap. One piece varnished wood grips. It comes in a factory fitted case with a maroon velour interior. Inside of the case is a brass bullet mold with "COLT'S / PATENT" on the top of it, a combination screwdriver-nipple wrench tool, a tin of caps, a powder flask with an Eagle motif, and the key to the case. CONDITION: This gun retains virtually all of the original factory-applied blue finish with just a few small scratches and storage marks. The cylinder has a spot on it from lying in the case. Vibrant case colors on the frame, loading lever and hammer. The silver plating shows some darker patina. The grips have just about all of the original varnish with just a couple of small storage marks. The screws have been out of this gun before. Some of the screws show some usage. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. The case and tools remain in in very good to better condition. An 1849 Colt worthy of any collection.
