According to serial number this rifle was made in 1868 as a 2nd model with serial number concealed under wood line on left side of lower tang. SN 17424. Cal. 44 RF Henry with 24-1/4 oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight and 900 yard Henry-style ladder rear sight. Mounted with standard, straight grain American walnut with straight stock and crescent buttplate with trap containing an orig 4-pc brass & iron cleaning rod. Bbl has the Winchester & King’s Patent 2-line address. Wood & bbl appear to be modern replacements and receiver appears to have been dressed and artificially aged to perfection, probably by the late Ron Kudrick of Reno, Nevada. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain a fine, smooth, even dark artificially aged patina; ladder rear sight is reproduction as are stock screws, stocks and swivels. Receiver & buttplate retain a crisp medium faux mustard patina. Wood is sound and retains about all of its fine custom finish. Mechanics are fine but was made with out half-cock position on hammer, brilliant shiny bore. Cleaning rod has minor pitting, otherwise is fine. This rifle is accompanied by a very detailed George Madis letter authenticating this rifle .
