64.5cm nagasa, with iconic shinogi zukuri configuration, iori mune, kurijiri nakagojiri, and signed tachi-mei "Yoshu Hojo ju Hiromasa saku". Ura dated May, 1944. Silver foiled copper catscratch habaki. Typical gunto mounts with floral decorations on beaded grounds, of better than typically encountered quality and condition. With red and brown sword knot for field grade officers, and a button fastened hilt cover. Blade is in reasonably good polish with a a tight gunome hamon with spots of yo. Hada is somewhat indistinct but looks like itame. Boshi looks o-maru. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is somewhat out of polish as aforementioned, with some light surface scratches on the right side, just below yokote, but free of any chips. Habaki has some spots of copper showing through. Mounts are very good with some verdigris to kabuto-gane, and some minor handling marks, but excellent. This is a very attractive sword, and Hiromasa is a well regarded smith: he is listed as a 1st seat at the 6th Exhibiton of Newly-Made Swords in 1941.
