Ichihara Nagamitsu is one of the best-known gunto smiths. He made swords for the Osaka Army Arsenal, and his swords were used to test cut helmets, which they were quite good at. He was authorized as a Rikugun Jumei Tosho, and was provided with a steady supply of steel for swords. 70.3cm nagasa in iconic shinogi-zukuri form, with iriyamagata nakagojiri. Tachimei signed Ichihara Nagamitsu, with distinct 2 strokes on character for "naga". Blade is out of polish, obscuring the hada, but the temper appears to be a very tight gunome, almost suguha except for the bumps, with ashi visible. In typical floral gunto mounts with a single hanger. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish, with some surface scratches throughout, a few areas of cleaned oxidation, and one line of what appears to be delamination. Mounts are good with expected handling marks throughout, tsukaito rewrapped and too thick at the fuchi, seppas are aluminium.
