DSP. Maker Marked "Peerless 6-39." A nice looking example of this C. 1939 double sided porcelain sign from Shell Gasoline featuring bright color and the iconic clamshell form. CONDITION: Side 1 shows good color with isolated porcelain chips in the field. The gloss also shows dulling from exposure to the weather. The porcelain chips in the field and the outer edges show touch up, which was likely applied to minimize further oxidation. The outer edges show consistent chipping and porcelain loss (7.5). Side 2 shows discoloration and wear throughout the field. There is dulling and general wear to the gloss in the field. There are porcelain chips and loss in the field and along the outer edges (7.0). A good candidate for cleaning.
