Factory records indicate the serial number was applied October 16, 1905 and the completed carbine was shipped on October 19 of the same year. Rifle features a classic carbine length blued nickel steel barrel with full length magazine tube retained by a pair of barrel bands. Bead top blade front sight missing the bead and highly desirable platinum lined 3-leaf express rear sight, with an additional folding tang mounted aperture sight. Blued solid frame with saddle ring. Case hardened hammer and lever. Varnished checkered walnut carbine forend. Nicely figured XX grade checkered walnut pistol grip stock with WRACO composition grip cap and period red rubber pad. Inside of stock channel stamped "22136", the matching "22136 XX R" assembly number, wood grade, and rubber butt designation present on the tang. Factory research does not mention pistol grip stock or checkering; however, these appear factory done. Research does indicate "Stock 1 inch short of regular", indicative of fitment with rubber pads. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel and magazine tube retain nearly all of their factory blue with only light wear. Receiver has some high edge silvering and an area of toning on the left side. Some expected light saddle ring wear also present. 70% vibrant nitre blue on loading gate. Hammer retains case color patterning, largely faded to patina. A bright flash of case color displayed on the left side of the lever, the balance patina. Stocks retain the vast majority of their varnish with scattered impressions and surface abrasion. Left side of wrist has a small pin repaired split. Butt pad has crystalized with crackling but remains intact. Very good bore with strong, well defined rifling. Fine mechanics. An exceedingly attractive and scarce deluxe Winchester.
