One of less than 1,000 1886s chambered in .38-70, this example produced circa 1895. Classic blued octagon barrel with Marbles Sheard front sight and semi-buckhorn rear. Case hardened solid frame. Plain walnut forend and stock. Hardware includes a steel nose cap with added sling eye, aftermarket rear sling swivel, and crescent rifle butt plate. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel and magazine tube retains significant portions of factory finish fading to a rich brown. Reciever displays a few traces of case colors, the balance a freckled silvery patina. Forend appears lightly cleaned with mild impressions. Butt likewise has scattered impressions and a few larger dings near the comb. Very good, strong bore with some scattered, cleaned light oxidation spots. Mechanics are very good. A very scarce '86.
