Factory records indicate that the serial number was applied to this rifle November 2, 1896 and it shipped from the Winchester warehouse on September 4, 1897. Rifle is fitted with a blued octagon barrel in the desirable .45-90 chambering with full length magazine tube and sporting sights. Polish blued takedown frame with case hardened lever and hammer. Plain walnut forend with blued steel nose cap and straight grip stock with steel shotgun butt plate. Included factory research confirms configuration. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel and magazine tube retain the vast majority of their factory blue with some thinning and high edge wear. Some additional wear and toning present around the takedown latch. Receiver retains the majority of its thinning factory blue with freckling throughout. Strong traces of case colors displayed on the lever and hammer. Forend has some expected dings but retains the vast majority of its original finish. Stock likewise has scattered impressions and marks. Fine, strong and bright bore. Crisp mechanics. A great .45-90 '86 takedown.
