Known as the "Toyota of Watches", Seiko became the watch that MACV-SOG Recon Elements turned to for use by their operators. Vietnam-era “MACV-SOG Seiko" watches were procured using black budget funds and issued to SOG operators as sterile and untraceable equipment. There are 3 generally agreed Seiko references that were carried by SOG personnel during the conflict: 6619-8060 from circa 1967, 6119-8100 from circa 1968 and 7005-8030 from circa 1970. This example is a 6119-8100 and is marked as such on the reverse. The full marking reads "STP BACK ST. STEEL 6119-8100 WATER PROOF" and is numbered "863888". Also marked "JAPAN". Face is marked "SEIKO" and "21 JEWELS". The watch is on a khaki British marked wristband that is marked "A.F.0210" and also accommodates a period W.C.C. marked wrist compass. A NOS green wristband is also included. CONDITION: Good.
