This is an incredible copy of the famous Confederate used Civil War musket. There are no visible Italian proof marks. This appears to be a museum quality custom made gun by David Stavlo. If not a Stavio, it is just as nice. We cannot find his signature but he apparently made these using a mix of original and newly made and formed parts. All metal is finished in Armory White with brass fore-end tip and butt plate. The hump back lock is stamped C.S. RICHMOND, VA. and dated 1863. Top barrel flat also dated 1863. Left side barrel breech is stamped with VP and eagle head. There is a JGZ inspector cartouche in oval on left side of full length walnut stock. All three bands are stamped with U. Brass butt plate stamped C.S. Sports typical 1863 type rear folding sight and comes with ramrod. CONDITION. Excellent. Shows as near new with only light handling and has a mirror rifled bore. Also has a correct type white cloth sling.
