"The service revolver model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne was the first double-action revolver used by the French Army. It was produced by Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne with 337,000 copies" wiki. This example is dated 1893 on the octagon barrel. Finish was in the white but this example was later blued. It is a six shot, double action with checkered wood grips, lanyard ring, non fluted cylinder. Maker legend found on right side of frame. Model 1873 engraved on top of barrel. This example was made for the French Navy and there is an M stamp on the left side of the frame. All visible matching numbers. CONDITION. Excellent. Retains at least 95% of the later applied blue finish. Legends are crisp. Action works fine. Bore is bright. The chamber was bored out to accept the .45 Auto Rim cartridge.
