49cm (approx. 19 - 1/4") nagasa of shinogi zukuri form, with state of polish and condition obscuring grain and temper; temper looks like it might be a form of notare. O-suriage nakago with three mekugi-ana, mumei, and kirijiri. One piece silver foil habaki made to resemble a two piece. Tsuba pierced with floral designs, fuchi and kashira with five petal flowers (ume?) with gilt highlights on a nanako ground. Menuki depict a face and what might be a drum, difficult to see. Saya is a texture lacquer with slot for kozuka, vacant, and remnants of a tag in Japanese, partially obliterated. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with scattered oxidation and mossing throughout. Sa-me is missing pieces under the tsuka-ito. Mounts with rubs and handling marks, says with cracks and lifting lacquer. Please note that due to the state of polish, Morphy Auctions will not guarantee against fatal flaws that may be revealed by polish.
