Krieghoff was started in Suhl, Thuringia in 1886 by Ludwig Krieghoff and his partner where they founded the arms factory Sempert & Krieghoff. Barrels are dated 12/27. Has all matching numbers. Side lock action has typical deep relief vine and leaf pattern. The right side features three deer in wooded setting. The left side also features deer in the running position. Nearly full coverage engraving on entire receiver as well as all adjoining parts to include the trigger guard that has carved initials presumably for the original buyer (HL?). There is a bullet trap at base of stock that is also engraved in the same pattern as well as on the metal parts of the splinter forearm. This gun features a pistol grip checkered walnut oil finish stock with a nearly straight comb with small hump, matching splinter forearm with horn inset, a roll over cheek piece and a black (horn?) butt plate The blued barrels are lightly engraved at breech and feature a solid rib with standing rear sight, bead front sight, manual extractor with attached swivel. (also located on stock) Manufacture stamp on barrels. Numerous proofs on flats. Base of receiver stamped "KRIEGOFF DRILLING NEPTUNE" This gun also features a blued left side mounted lever safety. The 12 gauge chambers measure 2 3/4". Chokes are both full with 8mm rifled barrel. CONDITION: Excellent. Receiver has beautiful satin finish with 98% barrel blue. Stocks show just some minor impressions, overall light handling. Bores are all bright. Lock up is tight. A very sharp drilling
