JOH. SPRINGER’S ERBEN in VIENNA was founded in 1836. They ran a gun shop as well as gunsmithing services The full matted rib is stamped JON SPRINGER'S ERBEN WIEN. His shop may have done the engraving. The chamber has the patent Mannlicher M1908 stamp partially obscured by scope base. Rib has two leaf folding rear sight, bead front sight. The full length stock features Wundhammer style side panels, an adjustable comb operated by a device at base of stock , swivels, horn butt plate, small roll over cheek piece, checkered, pistol grip with cap and metal fore-end tip. Unusual quick release scope mounts with a Karl Kahles scope Multix reticle. Engraving can be found on floor plate, grip cap, rib, receiver, safety and on the butter knife bolt handle. Working double set triggers. Blue finish. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains at least 90% blue beginning to thin and blend with scattered light age freckles and a bit more wear on trigger guard and floor plate. Wood is nice, checkering still crisp, with scattered impressions. The butt plate does not fit well, especially at toe. Bore is strong.
