A predecessor to the Mannlicher Schoenauer. This bolt action is fed through the top of the action via stripper clip guide. Early takedown design where the barrel and fore-end come away from the receiver. Left side of frame is stamped "STEYR 1900". Right side of barrel stamped Cordite with numerous Austrian proofs. Unusual large round bolt handle knob. Rifle features a ramp front sight with a two leaf , standing and folding rear barrel sight. Metal finish is blue. Gun has only one trigger and the rear barrel band has missing swivel. The walnut stock features a straight comb with checkered pistol grip, capped with trap, and checkered metal butt plate. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains approximately 95 % blue with some thinning and light age freckles. Chamber is patina with minor dimpling. Trigger guard is patina with flashes of blue. Blue is splotchy on floorplate. Action is crisp and has silky smooth feel. Bore is strong. Nice stock with fairly sharp checkering and just minor impressions and handling. Very unusual and hard to find take down rifle.
