Circa 1913 per Clawson. This is an interesting example of an early 1913 gun that was clearly rebuilt for continuing use, as the 1911s were specifically designed to have interchangeable parts, allowing for easy repairs. This example has a Remington Rand slide with serrated slope front sight, square notch flat top rear sight with punch dot ahead of dovetail, and typical Remington Rand address on left side of slide. Polished barrel with an encircled "MB" on left lug. Small parts comprise a spurred checkered hammer, thick tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut, short 1911 grip safety, long milled trigger, checkered magazine release, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and Keyes fibre grips. Frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left side of dust cover, intertwined WGP proof for Penfield, with serial number on right side. Two tone magazine. CONDITION: Slide retains the vast majority of the parkerized finish with some thinning to sharp edges and scattered spotting, primarily to right side of slide. Frame with approximately half of the reapplied blue finis, with losses to sharp edges and high traffic areas, with handling marks and some impressions from improper assembly/disassembly around both sides of the slide release. Legends are somewhat softened but still legible. Grips very good. Mechanically fine, bore with strong rifling and frosting throughout.
