Serial 4351 was manufactured in 1864. Has two line 1860 Henry Patent New Haven Arms barrel legend with serial number. The matching serial number is stamped inside left side of frame, top of barrel, in the wrist channel, on inside back of butt plate as well as the butt plate screws. The rear ladder sight has the 900 (yards) stamp at top. (Type C) The stock sling swivel in on upper left side as well as left side of barrel. This gun has the slight bevel frame, the small trigger pin, small type 1 barrel address, small follower cut and the rounded heel butt plate with trap. The barrel is octagon and blued. The engraved brass frame as well as the butt plate have been nickel plated. The large bank note type scroll engraving with decorative borders and punch dot background carries through on butt plate. It is definitely high quality but we cannot find this pattern on documented factory engraved samples. The barrel and tube have also been re-blued. We do not know the age of the engraving or plating. The stock has some added finish. CONDITION: The barrel retains the majority of the reapplied blue finish with all legible barrel legends. The frame plating has some areas with brass showing through but still retains at least 85% of this finish as does the butt plate. The engraving is still crisp. The stock has numerous scattered mars and impressions. The bore is clean and defined but does have some abrasions. The barrel is a bit loose in frame. A strikingly handsome rifle.
