Circa 1968 per serial number; silver nitrate test is negative for salt. Classic 24" magnum tapered barrel with Browning legends and 2" triangles of scroll at shank. Large ring action engraved with a bugling elk on left side of fore ring, signed by Dewil, right side with a pronghorn, unsigned, with supporting floral scroll. Floor plate with a buck peeking out from foliage, signed by Marechal, and trigger guard with an advancing bear. Smokey figured, lightly fiddlebacked walnut stock of classic configuration with contrasting forearm and pistol grip caps, wave pattern checkering about the wrist and forearm with incised floral scroll motifs and stippled borders, single reinforcement bolt, sling bow studs at forearm and toe line, Monte Carlo comb, and a Browning hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, barrel retains virtually all of the bluing with some handling marks and superficial scratches, mostly ahead of the forearm. Receiver with some minor oil staining. Stock is very good with some minor handling marks, crazing, and impressions, most significant a dent that broke through the finish ahead of the rear sling stud; some dryness, mostly around the bolt. Right side reinforcement bolt has some fine oxidation around perimeter. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling. A wonderful gun in a classic American caliber.
