Lot consists of: (A) Third Type M1881 holster. The size of the belt loop was increased on the third type so the holster could be properly accommodated on the prairie belt. The holster is complete with intact belt loop, brass finial, and plug. Both flap loops are intact. Body exhibits crazing throughout with supple flap. The flap exhibits a faint arsenal stamp with the number "28" beneath the loops. This holster is featured on page 112 of US Military Holsters and Related Accoutrements by Edward Scott Meadows. CONDITION: Good. (B) Fourth Type M1881 holster. The fourth type holsters are the same as the third type except the belt loop was made larger to fit over the woven cartridge belt when filled with cartridges. This example is complete with intact belt loop, brass finial, and plug. Both flap loops are intact. Body exhibits blemishes throughout with most crazing on the supple flap. The flap exhibits a faint inspector stamp. CONDITION: Good.
