Lot consists of: (A) M1876 Prairie Belt Type 3 for use with the .45-70 cartridge. This example is both arsenal and Ordnance Department inspector stamped with "WATERVILIET / ARSENAL" and "A.R. SMITH" on the obverse of the leather billet. Reverse of the billet is stamped "C.B.". This example is full length and has not been shortened or altered. All of the cartridge loops are present but some feature fraying and forming splits. 3 arsenal installed brass rings for attaching equipment are present. Buckle exhibits a pleasing patina. CONDITION: Good. (B) US M1885 Mills Cavalry Belt used by officers with smaller buckle replacing the large brass buckle on front. Leather billet is both arsenal and Ordnance Department inspector stamped with "ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL" AND "W.T.G.". Leather billet exhibits light cracking but remains supple. Buckle and sword hanger exhibit a mellow patina. All cartridge loops are present with scattered wear and stains. CONDITION: Good.
