Converted under contract in 1857 by Remington from an 1816 pattern musket featuring a rifled barrel and updated Maynard tape primer ignition system. Barrel surcharged "NJ" at the breech indicating New Jersey ownership. Unsighted variant with only the standard barrel band blade front sight. Full length walnut stock with crisp "LS" cartouche and bright Charleville style iron mounts. CONDITION: Fine. Metal is bright with some spots of patina. Wood rated very good.
