Manufactured 1866 to 1871. This rifle features two barrel bands stamped with "U", full-length walnut forend with metal tip, a cleaning rod, lanyard ring on rear band, military style rear sight, and a walnut buttstock with sling swivel. "W.C." cartouche on left wrist. Peabody patent "July 22, 1862" on left side of frame. The barrel is a smooth mix of blue and brown patina with some scattered age spotting, stamped "CONN" on the rear sling swivel plate. One of the 433 that were part of the 1871 contract. Frosty bore with good rifling CONDITION: Very good.
