Circa 1899-1900. A total of 5044 Hammerless No 2 grade Hunter Arms Co Fulton NY guns were made with automatic ejectors. The fine engraving on the receiver features a single circular panel on each side with quail and partridge with fine borders and florals. The beautiful browned Damascus barrels have the grade stamped on base (2E). The engraved receiver was case colored. The gun features double triggers and an engraved blue trigger guard. The checkered walnut pistol grip stock has a grip cap and the black butt plate features a pointer. It is the correct type for this gun but this plate is a reproduction. The splinter forearm matches stock and all numbers are matching, with the G.S. Lewis patented forearm latch & ebony forearm tip. CONDITION: Excellent. The barrels retain almost all of the Damascus pattern and finish with a few minor age spots. The lock up is tight. Bores are bright. Stocks have been nicely refinished. Case colors have faded to silver. Engraving is sharp. This is a very handsome early gun.
