20.3cm nagasa of classic hirazukuri form with an indistinct hada, with what looks like shadows of mokume or itame, with a classic Mino sanbonsugi hamon with some patchy nie, mostly towards monouchi. Boshi is a sharply slanted ko-maru. Ubu, with kurijiri nakagojiri, signed in two characters "Kanetomo", with indistinct filemarks, looks higaki. One piece habaki made to resemble a two piece, with a nicely executed paulownia crest with gilt, silver, and shakudo work. Interesting aikuchi mounts with a textured striated finish on says with a flattened area between kurikata and kaerizuno. Tightly woven tsuka-ito, with menuki of coiled dragons and horn fuchi and kashira. Kozuka with a brass handle with silver and golden paulownia leaves connected by silver tendrils, signed indistinctly (Nagamitsu?). CONDITON: Very good, some ware but free of hagire or fukure. A few very minor pockmarks and handling marks. Mounts are good with some handling marks. and an area of lifting texture between kaerizuno and sayajiri.
