Large 75.4cm (approximately 29 - 5/8") nagasa of classic shinogiu zukuri form, with a gunome temper line based on suguha with areas of what appear to be ashi. Maru boshi, but codition obscures some of the finer aspects of the blade, such as grain. Copper habaki, and housed in a plain shirasaya. Nakago ubu, with two mekugi-ana, signed "Noshu Seki ju Kanemichi Saku" (lit. Kanemichi of Seki City in Noshu Province made this) with a Sho stamp. Two mekugi-ana. Born Kojima Tokijiro in July 1902, and studied under Kajima Katsumasa and Watanabe Kanenaga before becoming a Rikugun Jumei Tosho. He is noted as making quality showato and gendaito, was a Special Honor Noted Seat in the 1941 Exhibition, and was rated at 2 Million Yen in Slough; see pg. 46 "Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945". CONDITION: Blade has scattered mossing throughout but is free of fukure. Some small chips approximately halfway up the blade. Mei appears to have been cut after the mekugi-ana were drilled. Shirasaya is loose, with numerous handling marks and associated age wear, and retained by rubber bands and elastic string; exercise caution.
