70.9cm nagasa (approximately 27 - 7/8") of classic shinogi zukuri form with itame and mokume grain with a straight suguha temper line. Nakaga with kiri filemarks, 3 mekugi-ana, one possibly opened up, and kiri jiri. Seppa are mix numbered. Typical kai gunto mounts with a leather scabbard and a leather hanger, with stitching coming undone across spine. The form of the sword and features suggest Nanbokucho, possibly Ko-Uda. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish but with visible grain in some areas and temper throughout. Superficial scratches and handling marks, with areas of mossing and oxidation, and some kizu near habaki moto and scattered shintetsu. Mounts are good, leather is crazing and with some scrapes. Tsuka ito rewrapped, with some added pieces under the wrap. An interesting sword remounted for the war effort, that originally would have been quite long.
