Manufactured 1883. Standard rifle with full octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, replaced dovetailed front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight, and walnut stock with rifle buttplate and matching forearm. Winchester two line barrel legend, Model 1873 legend on tang. No visible caliber stamp on top of barrel nor on the brass lifter. Dust cover is present. CONDITION: Good. There is no remaining original finish on metal, which is now a dull gunmetal grey with patina. Barrel legends are all legible. Edges of barrel are soft. The stock is shy to metal, all original finish is gone and has scattered dings and impressions with initials carved on both sides. The forearm is worn and chipped along majority of barrel. Action functions correctly. Bore is defined but worn with abrasions.
