Approximately 20,000 Navy size revolvers were made in Middletown CT from 1861-65. Of those, 11,984 were made under US contracts but most were not US surcharged as is this example. It is referred to as the Navy Model due to the .36 caliber. This revolver features the octagon barrel with Savage legend stamped on top strap. It is a six shot, single action in which the ring trigger engages the cylinder to cock and the single trigger fires the weapon. Finish was blue with two piece walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good, all smooth homogenous patina. All legends are legible. Grips are very good with some finish loss and marring. Action works correctly. Bore is sharp with some residue.
