Manufactured in 1902. Round blued steel barrel, brass bead front sight, after market heat shield with bayonet mount installed , fading blued steel receiver with incorrect placement of US acceptance proof mark on right side, ribbed walnut fore-end, walnut round knob pistol grip stock. CONDITION: Strong bore but does show some residue. Barrel is stamped CYL choked but may have been trimmed to proper 20". It is, of course, a take down which was not used in any known standard US issue 1897 trench gun but with proper cylinder choke stamp, does have a good look. CONDITION: Very good. Wood is solid with usual scattered dings. All legends are crisp. Proper sling swivels were installed. Smooth steel shotgun butt plate. Nice 30% remaining bright blue on frame. About the same on barrel. Early Springfield Rock Island type brass frog leather sling. Crisp action. Cool gun as altered.
