The factory letter lists serial number 13582 as a Rifle, Casehardened, Barrel Shape; Octagon , Extra Heavy, Set Trigger, Checkered stock with pistol grip. Sights; Vernier & Wind gauge sights. Received in warehouse on February 4, 1881 and shipped the next day. Caliber not listed nor marked making it a 45-75. The assembly number, 1177, is stamped inside the stock upper channel, on the inside of butt plate, the lever and on the inside lower tang along with XX for the deluxe walnut stock. The side plates are numbered 82 matching the last two digits of the serial number. The curved steel butt plate has the trap along with the five piece cleaning rod. The Vernier long range tang sight has the heavy base. The listed Wind Gauge front sight is globe style with the level. The rear sight slot wears a filler. The extra heavy barrel bears the two line Winchester legend. The loading tube is full length. The stock has the ebony inset in the pistol grip and wears the piano style finish as does the forearm. CONDITION: Excellent. There is some good case color on left side plate and near some protected areas, otherwise, they have patterned out. There are some bold colors on the lower tang. The lever also shows some minor flashes while the hammer has darkened and the butt plate has freckled. The dust cover sports some thinning bright blue as does the loading gate. The barrel shows some thinning blue, especially in protected area but, for the most part, is a soft patina with usual freckling. The same can be said for the tube magazine. The stock is excellent with just some nominal impressions and sharp checkering. The forearm fits the same description and both are proud to metal. The action is smooth and the bore is bold and bright. This one is loaded with extra special features.
