As is confirmed by an included 1995 dated Cody factory research letter, this deluxe 1886 shipped from the factory June 30, 1888 as a rifle with octagon barrel, .40-82 chambering, plain trigger, and checkered pistol grip stocks. This attractive rifle remains in this configuration as shipped. The blued 26" barrel fitted with a dovetail German silver blade front sight and semi-buckhorn rear. Classic case hardened frame. Deluxe checkered walnut forend. Matching checkered pistol grip stock with ebony grip inlay and crescent rifle butt plate. Lower tang stamped with "70 X" assembly number and wood grade, a matching "70" stamped in the stock channel. CONDITION: Very fine, excellent for its age. Barrel and magazine tube retain the vast majority of their factory blue, some silvering along the high edges and thinning present, along with scattered marks and freckles. Generous vibrant and highly attractive original case colors are displayed on the frame with some muting on the belly, as well as minor spotting. Hammer also has bright colors, the lever largely faded. Bolt and loading gate retain the vast majority of their original finish. Stocks are fine with sharp checkering, some scattered marks present throughout along with a small chip to the right of the top tang. Strong bore and fine mechanics. A very nice deluxe '86.
