With increasing public demand for M16 style rifles in the 1960s, Dr. Thomas Donnell developed a aesthetic conversion kit for the M1 carbine. They were first advertised in 1970 under the trade name D & M Distributers. Constructed out of black painted pecan wood, 50 sets of stocks were made for Donnell by Fajen along with a limited number of aluminum carry handles. This lot includes 2 of these rare stock sets acquired directly from Tom Donnell by Larry Ruth as well as one of the carry handles and other accessories. Also included is a large file of correspondence with Donnell and copied of period advertisements and other important documents. CONDITION: Excellent. PROVENANCE: The Larry Ruth Collection.
