Lot consists of: (A) U.S. Army officer's Model 1895 forage cap. This was the U.S. Army's first transition to a visor cap after leaving the traditional kepi design. Constructed of dark blue wool with leather visor bound with gold bullion wire chinstrap that is retained by eagle C buttons. Hat retains the original russet brown leather sweatband which remains supple. Inside the crown is lined with black silk and an "THE HENDERSON AMES CO. KALAMAZOO MICH." label which remains mostly intact. There are a few scattered moth nips but the hat remains sturdy and retains its original shape. CONDITION: Very good. (B) US Army Transportation Service visor hat. Constructed of dark blue wool with leather visor bound with gold bullion wire chinstrap that is retained by 1st pattern USAT buttons. Scattered moth nips to exterior and although slightly misshapen the hat remains sturdy. Excellent and unmolested bullion insignia. Leather sweatband is missing. Black silk lining exhibits fraying in some areas. CONDITION: Good.
