Circa 1872. An early Birmingham made game gun with brown laminated 30” steel barrels. Barrels have been made with extractors and a concave smooth rib. Barrels are fit with 3“chambers. Chokes are Cylinder and Cylinder. Rib with small brass round front bead sight. Rib reads “W.&C. SCOTT & SON. LONDON.”, “LAMINATED STEEL”. Bottom of barrels stamped “13” and with proof markings. Bottom of right barrel marked with serial number adjacent to lump. Case colored non-rebounding hammer action with Jones underlever and double triggers. Water table marked with serial number. Attractive case colored action with scroll engraving is engraved “W.&C. SCOTT & SON.” on lock plates. Trigger guard extends to full length long bottom strap which is blacked, scroll engraved with serial number. Reddish brown English walnut stock with English straight hand grip, vacant oval, and blacked steel butt plate. Grip with wrap-around pattern checkering. Splinter forend with pin push release, matched checkering and ebony dovetail insert at tip. Gun comes in a vintage leather case with “W. & C. SCOTT & SON” paper trade label, vacant charge card. Case comes with square oil bottle, rib brush, turnscrew, striker pot and cleaning accessories. Exterior case lid with tablet “E.M. GRAVES”. Accompanied by a letter from the W&C Scott Information Service, letters from various companies indicating that they could not help with research, and an estate appraisal for two guns. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels with light handling marks and bright bores. Action is sound. Stock and forend with light handling marks. Case very good with evidence of use and storage.
