Manufactured in 1894 according to Madis, this rifle features early first model features including the 10 o'clock screw to the upper left of the loading gate. Finished in blue with octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, sporting sights, 2-piece walnut stocks, and crescent rifle butt plate. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel and magazine tube retain the majority of their faded factory blue, some areas drifting to brown patina. Receiver likewise retains significant portions of polished blue fading to patina. Loading gate displays 85% vibrant nitre blue. Rear sight has been refinished and is likely a replacement. A few traces of case color present on lever and hammer, the balance patina. Stocks have expected dings and some finish loss. A coat of finish was added long ago and now shows crackled attic burn throughout. Very good bore with some light evidence of cleaned oxidation. Fine mechanics. A nice very early 1894.
