Manufactured circa the 1860s. This is one of the finest condition cased Whitney Pocket revolvers known. It is a Second Model, First Type, that features the eagle, shield and lion roll engraved cylinder. The barrel is octagonal, finish is high polish factory blue, case colored hammer and loading lever, nickel plated trigger guard, and fine checkered walnut stocks stamped #1799 inside both panels. Screws are fire blue. Lever has ball latch and grips fit round to frame. Standard finish is factory high polish blue. Barrel is stamped "E. WHITNEY N.HAVEN". It comes in period wooden case with an old small eagle flask, an unmarked bullet mold, and with cap tin. CONDITION. Retains 90%+ blue finish with areas of light finish flaking only, mixing with light patina on front strap and drifting a bit on rear. Screws appear untouched. Cylinder scene is crisp. Grips are near mint with few light dings and fit flawlessly. Razer sharp edges. Nickel shows minor edge wear. Case colors are strong. Mechanics are perfect. Action is fine. Bore is bright.
