Fine example of a World War II Robeson Cutlery Co. M3 fighting knife with its original M6 leather scabbard. The knife features a blued carbon steel 6 - 3/4" spearpoint blade with a 3 - 1/2" secondary blade. The blade is marked "U.S. M3 R.C. CO. 1943". The blade is followed by a blued steel crossguard with an angular bend at 1 end in order to facilitate a thumb rest. Ordnance marked under guard. The handle features a polished, lacquered, and grooved leather grip and is topped with a blued pommel cap. The knife is complete with a nice M6 leather scabbard that features a metal reinforcement plate and is marked "U.S. M6 / BARWOOD / 1943". CONDITION: The blade retains most of its original blued finish and exhibits scattered light blemishes from being removed from the scabbard. The guard and pommel retain most of their finish but exhibit areas of pitting. The grooved leather handle remains tight and exhibits handling wear. Scabbard retains all of its original components and the snap is functioning. The leather remains with few blemishes. Robeson Cutlery Co. only manufactured approximately 36,575 M3 knives during the war and this is a very nice complete example of a desirable World War II fighting knife.
