The Dutch East Indies Army adopted the Luger pistol in 1911. DWM delivered 4181 pistols between 1912 and 1913. After the outbreak of WWI DWM could not export due to the needs of the German Army . After the treaty of Versailles, the Dutch ordered more Luger pistols but the Germans could not export them. So they sent the parts to Vickers in England and Vickers assembled them starting at serial number 4181. So this is approximately the 15th one that Vickers assembled. The gun has Nemours British proofs. It also has "NOTENGLISHMADE" on the left side of the frame. It has RUST with an arrow above the safety lever. and "VICKERS / LTD" on the front toggle link. Two piece checkered wood grips that are numbered to the gun. They are most likely aftermarket grips. CONDITION: This gun retains virtually all of the aftermarket blue and straw finish. The checkering on the grips is sharp and crisp. Fair bore with some frosting in the lands and grooves. Unmarked wood bottom magazine is in good condition.
