Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured clandestinely by Mauser for the German military. Receiver is stamped with the 1935 date code "G" over the chamber, with Mauser arsenal proofs on the right. Toggle bears Mauser's clandestine "S/42" code. Interior of right grip panel is stamped with Mauser's "S/42" code above an "(Eagle)/ 154" waffenamt. Metal components are blued, some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching (including the grips), with the exception of the magazine. CONDITION: Major metal components retain good amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting large areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina and age related discoloration, as well as scattered areas of moderate surface oxidation and some pitting. Strawed components retain traces of their finish, with the balance retaining a mottled gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent pitting and strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing overall, with some scattered nicks to the diamonds. Left grip panel exhibits a loss to the rear of the safety lever, with some small losses at the top of the grip.
