The serial number puts the origin of this rifle to 1900. This rifle, as well as two others, were once in the possession of Robert Auth. We have a copy of a book on his life and art written by Frances Camera. He designed the engravings of each rifle which is pictured on page 59-60 of the book. (Book included) Each was engraved and gold inlay by master engraver Jerome Glimm and were part of his estate that was originally handled by Tony Kojis of Boise Idaho. The dust cover has an R. Auth facsimile signature in gold with Yellow Pine Idaho. This gun has been upgraded and finished to as new as a "One of One Thousand" and is so engraved on the barrel breech. The muzzle and breech of the barrel wear two gold wedding bands. There is light scroll engraving on the barrel breech, muzzle, nose cap, lever, hammer, and butt plate. The right side of frame features a bas relief bear front panel . The side plate features a gold bas relief squirrel surrounded by gold border and entirely surrounded by floral scroll and set off in antique silver. The left side is in same pattern but with a gold rabbit on side plate and a relief Marksman medal on front. Standard features include a full octagon barrel, full tube magazine, blue finish, three X quality walnut stocks, checkered, straight grip. Brass follower not marked. Sights include a German silver tip front and a semi buckhorn rear. CONDITION: Shows as new with light handling. The bore was relined. Two line Winchester barrel legend is sharp. Comes with a copy of the Robert Auth official flyer showing this and all the other guns. There was a feature story on these rifles in the October 2011 issue of Gun Magazine.
