Manufactured 1870. The barrel sports three barrel bands, a front sight that serves as a lug for an angular socket bayonet, and a dovetail mounted folding leaf rear sight graduated to 800 yards with the 900 mark ground. This rear sight is the Henry pattern. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line Winchester New Haven address with King's patent legend. It has the proper 27" round barrel with the magazine tube that is about 2 - 3/4" from the muzzle and sling loops mounted on the lower and middle barrel band. Brass frame and carbine style butt plate. The buttstock channel and plate have matching serial numbers. CONDITION: Fine. Brass was cleaned. All steel is a soft patina with scattered freckles. Wood is excellent, refinished at one time, and is a bit shy to metal with scattered impressions and dings. The color tone of forearm is a bit darker than the stock. Bore is well defined but soft. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
