W.B. Ellis is a modern engraver and FEGA member, and his signature is located on the underside of the barrel and on the butt, indicating that he performed the upgrade of this revolver. 1861 manufacture per serial number. Classic 1851 Navy with near complete coverage of nicely cut open floral scroll engraving with punch dot shading, a floral sunburst on top of grip strap, and fire blued small parts. CONDITION: Very good as restored. Metal with nearly all of a storm-grey chemical bluing throughout, with crisp engraving. Grips straps with some handling marks and scattered oxidation, primarily to trigger guard. Grips are very good with scuffs and handling marks. Fire bluing excellent with near complete retention.
